I am a student from Tsinghua University and my major is finance. And I am expected to graduate this July.

What will you study in USA?
I will pursue the accounting master degree at University of Illinois Urbana Champaign.
Why do you want to study in USA? Why not study in China?
During the past four years, I have accepted the American educational model. All the textbooks in my school are written by American famous professors and my school requires the teachers to teach in English. Therefore, I’d appreciate the opportunity to study in USA with an advanced academic atmosphere.
Also in my school, many of my teachers get their PhD degree from America and come back to China, I view it as a good guide for my development.

Why you choose this major？Why change major?
I want to have a broad horizon of a company. In my opinion, finance mainly focus on the future and accounting mainly focus on the past. And I believe that accounting can enrich my knowledge of the basic operation of a company.
What’s the difference between your major now and your undergraduate major?
Accounting is more practical than finance. Accounting can teach you how to look into the financial report of a company. And Finance mainly focus on the efficiency of capital allocation.

How do you know this University?
I have talked with Professor Zhang, who has taught me Fundamental Accounting. She was familiar with UIUC because one of her colleagues now worked in UIUC. And she thought that UIUC was a good choice for me, so she strongly recommended this school to me.
Why choose this University?
After the introduction by my teacher, I searched on the internet and found that the accounting school ranks second in USA. The faculty in accounting department is very famous. For example, Robert K. Mautz, he is the chief editor of Accounting Review. Besides, the first female accounting PhD in China, Qu Xiaohui, has studied there. Therefore, I made up my mind to apply for this University.
What do you know about this school?
UIUC locates near Chicago and the local weather is very similar to Beijing. UIUC, the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Michigan, rank three biggest public universities in USA. The computer science and many other technical major are also very renowned that every year many students from my school go there.

What will you do after you finish your study in America?
I will go back to China and hope to be a consultant for companies. Through the research on my paper, I find that China is an interesting emerging market. And it provides me great opportunity to develop. And after the past 23 years, it is hard to build up such a big relationship as in China. Besides, if I stay in Shanghai, the promising China Wall Street, I can help my father run his company better than now.
What is your career goal?
I will go back to China and hope to be a consultant for companies. In my opinion, consultant is an honored career because you can provide advice to your customer. Especially for China, the economical system is not working so well. And many small & medium companies need some professional analysis to help them grow up.
Would you like to find a job in USA?
No. I should admit that the financial atmosphere is somehow better than China. However, in an emerging market, it provides me great opportunity to develop. And after the past 23 years, it is hard to build up such a big relationship as in China. Besides, if I stay in Shanghai, the promising China Wall Street, I can help my father run his company better than now.
